Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. 1st Edition. TOM WHIPPLE BY WALTER D. EDMONDS ILLUSTRATED BY PAUL LANTZ 1942 1ST EDITION HC DJ. Walter D. Edmonds was a local author who started his writing career with books about local historical topics, several of which won high acclaim and/or were adapted for stage and screen. He was a prolific author publishing 34 novels over the decades, many for children. His book The Matchlock Gun was awarded the Newbery Prize for children s literature. On offer here is the next book he wrote, titled: Tom Whipple and illustrated by Paul Lantz. When you pick the book up, the vivid presentation of the cover art on the dust jacket portends good things to come and you will not be disappointed. The book is nicely illustrated in b&w throughout but features five stunning color plates, most double-page! This medium-sized hard cover book (8 x 10 inches, 70 pages) was published by Dodd, Mead & Company of New York dated 1942 and the First Edition (so stated). The book is bound in deep blue cloth with embossed black titles on cover and spine and protected by a colorful pictorial dust jacket. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There is some edge wear, and the upper corners are especially worn but overall, the dust jacket is whole and very presentable. The sturdy hard covers are clean, perhaps a bit dust-dulled and show some sunning along narrow bands on the edges. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages are clean and bright throughout. The color plates are especially vivid. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
