A comprehensive overview of the exceptional family of Frances Trollope, two of her sons, Anthony and Adolphus and her daughter-in-law, Frances Ternan, all of whom were successful authors of the Victorian period. This copy is good + in gray cloth with dark gray titles on the spine and front cover. The front hinge is cracked between the free endpapers, but holding, and overall, the binding is sound. A number of illustration plates and the family tree foldout chart in the back are all in excellent condition. Slight wear and soiling on the covers. A personal bookplate (Roger Dow) is affixed to the front pastedown. along with an ink inscription, "Washington, 15 August, 1946". A clipped short bio of the authors, perhaps from the absent dust jacket, is pasted on the dedication page. Interestingly, the authors themselves are a mother/son combination. The son Richard Poate Stebbins has inscribed to the initial owners on the ffep.
