Red cloth boards; some staining on the front; slightly bumped corners; wear round top & bottom edges & top & bottom of spine; three 1 cm tears at top of spine; title and author's initials on front in black; author, title and publ on spine in black. Cut edges tanned & foxed. Endpapers lightly tanned with long dark tanned strips along spine side of free endpapers. Text block tight; prelims foxed; minor foxing on last few pages; text pages lightly tanned, clean with light foxing around a few of the page edges. List of other works by the author on reverse of half-title page; dedication, dated 1930, to St John Adcock who made this selection from the Author's short stories on back of Contents Page. Pictorial dust jacket is stained and chipped but protected by a plastic sleeve. Revues of other books by author on back & flaps; Original price visible on spine but a later, damaged price sticker is fixed to the bottom of the spine.
