Hardback. Etat : Very Good. Succession meets Megan Abbott in this seductive, technological suspense about the dramatic downfall of one of America's most affluent families. "Terrifying and uncanny." --Katy Hays, New York Times bestselling author of The Cloisters The old-money Wieland family has it all: wealth, status, power. They're also famously cursed. Clara and her brother, Teddy, grew up on a small island in Maine in the shadow of their parents' tragic deaths, haunted by rumors and paparazzi. Fourteen years later, they've mostly put their turbulent past to rest. Teddy has married Clara's best friend, Jess, and the three of them have moved back home to take over the sprawling, remote family mansion known as Vantage Point. Then Teddy decides to run for the Senate--an unnerving prospect made much worse when intimate videos of Clara are leaked online. The most frightening part is that she doesn't remember filming any of them. Are the videos real? Or are they deepfakes? Is someone trying to take down the Wielands once and for all? Everyone thinks Clara is losing her grasp on reality. But she knows the truth: the videos are only the beginning. Years ago, the curse destroyed her parents. Now, it's coming for her. Sara Sligar, the critically acclaimed author of Take Me Apart, returns with a shocking family drama full of suspense. Brimming with palpable tension, Vantage Point carefully unravels a twisted web of family secrets and political ambition that raises questions about the nature of "truth" in our digital age.…

Paperback. Etat : Very Good. In Los Angeles, the only constant is change. Our lives go through cycles and rotations. We incorporate new ideas, people, workplaces, and patterns as we create the futures we have dreamed of since childhood. The stories we tell are malleable and shifting. We seek out places to survey the world around us, to understand where we've come from, where we are, and where we're going. In a sprawling, intricately patterned landscape shaped by the lives of millions, we find commonalities and differences, joy and sorrow, and moments of convergence. In this the fifth volume of the Made in L.A. fiction anthology series, stories are told through lenses focused on the aptitude of Angelenos to reinvent and reimagine, to take action for ourselves and for others. As storytellers, Angelenos understand that to seek truth in a world of continual shifts and evolution requires constant readjustment of the prism through which we perceive modern society. To solve the failures and dilemmas of the past, present, and future, we must observe from every conceivable angle, and from every vantage point.…

Paperback. Etat : Good. A unique approach to healing that emphasizes changing our perspectives instead of changing ourselves. Instead of struggling to change our inner experiences, we transform the container in which they are held. From here, wholeness and healing are possible; this is where actual change lives. 2024 Finalist, International Book Awards, Health: Psychology/Mental Health Category and Self Help: General Category 2025 Nautilus Silver Award, Psychology/Mental & Emotional Well-BeingOne of the most significant sources of suffering comes from our human tendency to avoid difficult emotions. We are not taught how to face these unpleasant, often daily inner experiences (mind-body energies) and so we tend to push them away, ignore them, or become unwittingly overwhelmed by them. Yet how we meet and greet these difficult emotions has everything to do with our well-being, resilience, and ability to connect with ourselves and others.Instinctually, we fight against our uncomfortable emotions; in doing so, we reinforce messages of ?not good enough? or ?something is wrong with me that I am feeling this way.? In You Don't Have to Change to Change Everything, readers learn that instead of forcing themselves to feel ?happy? and pushing away what is unpleasant, or instead of getting hooked by intense emotions, another path can lead to more profound well-being. Rather than trying to change one?s inner experiences, this book offers six ways to shift one?s vantage point when difficult emotions arise. Being aware from each of these six vantage points allows readers to cultivate inner stability, willingness to turn toward rather than away from themselves, greater perspective, internal strengths and inner resources, self-compassion, connection with the ?Whole Self? versus identification with ?hole self,? and interconnection with the world around them.…
