What makes this copy of interest is that it is signed and dated 1800 by Benjamin Callender Sr. one of the original subscribers of the volume. A note reads This book was formerly the property of my great grandfather Benjamin Callender Sr. one of the founders of the Mechanics Charitable Association of Boston. It descended to my grand uncle George Callender, from him to my father Henry Callender and given by him to me E. B. Callender Dorchester, Mass A.D. 1872. On the front fep and two notes written in pencil the first dated 1909 indicates the book was gifted by E. B. to George Raymond. The second dated 1956 gifted by Mrs. Raymond to W. D. Raymond. Book.
