He was one of the very first "photojournalists" to use police-scanner to enable him to arrive at crime scenes often before even the homicide detectives did, but he had preternatural senses, too. Other journalists, it is said, asked him if he used a Ouja-board to find the crime scenes, but though he said yes, he didn't know how to spell Ouja . . . Thus was born his professional pseudonym.
