Hardcover, with deckled paper on the boards and leather spine, some fray and tears on leather spine. -- This book is only in the Swedish language. -- And is in fairly good condition considering it is over 147 years old. -- ABOUT THE BOOK: Overall good antique copy of the modern type 19th-century Swedish printing of Barth's classic children's Bible storybook, mostly clean, signs of previous owner mentioned above. Wonderful illustrations, classic for the era. Swedish-language "lärobok för skolan och hemmet" presenting 104 concise, illustrated Bible stories arranged for weekly instruction (the title "Två gånger två och femtio" means twice fifty-two). Gleerups, Lund, 1878 (11th edition). A cornerstone of 19th-century religious pedagogy and family devotion, prized today by collectors of children's Bibles, Scandinavian religious history, and illustrated biblical readers. Useful for research on pietist educational literature and as a period reference for catechetical practice. Illustrated with black and white drawings, and pasted in color children's Victoriana scrap decals of the era (illustrateur). Book.
