Cream paper-covered boards; vignette of trees and horses in blue on front board; titles in blue on front and spine. Decorative endpapers with ladybird motif. Colour plates from illustrations by C.F. Tunnicliffe. Boards lightly rubbed and with a few marks. Previous owner's name in pencil on front pastedown; a couple of small pencil marks on index page; otherwise pages clean. Binding firm.

The text block has colour illustrations by C. F. Tunnicliffe on most right hand pages and in very good condition. The pages are firm, flat and not marked.No dedications etc. In good pictorial dust jacket with colour image of squirrels and birds in woodland and black titles to front. The jacket is quite clean, the edges are slightly worn, with small closed tear from top of rear flap. Price clipped. School stamp on front flap.

Spring and Autumn have small inscriptions to endpapers. *Winter: in Winter the error about yew berries not being poisonous (p16) which appeared in the very earliest printing has been corrected.
