During the War of 1812, the New Hampshire Militia fought in campaigns along the Canadian border. New Hampshire contributed 5,955 men to the war, including 5,279 infantry men, 642 artillery men, and 34 miscellaneous troops. CAPTAIN SAMUEL COLLINS Company, the First Regiment, New Hampshire, Detached Militia, served under Lieutenant Col. Commandant Nathaniel Fisk for three months beginning September 12, 1814. One page, 12 x 15, document signed by CAPTAIN SAMUEL COLLINS, March 2nd, 1815, for $164.70. being the subsistence account for Collins, servant of the New Hampshire Militia for the Fall of 1814. In part, "The United States to Samuel Collins, Cpt. In the first Regt. of Infty. N.H. Detached Militia in the service of the United States. Subsistence account for the Captain and his servant, from mid-September through mid-November, 1814. S In part, ".I do hereby certify and attest upon my honor, that the foregoing account amounting to $164.70 is accurate and just, that I have not for or during any part of the time above charged, received pay or subsistence, forage for horses or clothing for servants in kind or money in lieu thereof from the United States; that I have actually employed and kept in service the number of horses and servants charged for the sertant not belonging to the army but mustered on Capt. Saml Colins Rolls and that I did not during the term so charged keep or employ as waiter or servant soldiers from the line of the Army." Signed twice by Captain Collins.
