Paperback wide octavo, good condition, stapled pamphlet (covers LOOSE & little torn repaired at single staple), tyoewritten text, few black & white text-photos at rear, maps (including two fold-outs at rear), few edge tears overs (slight loss bottom corner tip rear cover), some edgewear. 43 pp. This small booklet by Jack Viccars… is the history of the New Guinea Survey Section, December 1941 - July 1942, and later known as 8th Aust Field Survey Section A.I.F., January - March 1943. The Annexes contain: Nominal Roll; Outline of the Members; Photos; and Maps. A good way to learn about the importance of surveys in a dangerous part of Australian military history. Another revised copy [our 41394A] states that this history was conceived during the Victoria Survey Association Reunion of November 1984, and was printed by the Survey Corps and launched at the November 1987 reunion with Brig L. Fitzgerald and Brig D. Macdonald. (ISBN not in booklet, assigned later. No date, but 1987 stated in another copy [our item 41394A]. 43 pages + 18 unnumbered pages as four annexes.). .
