Thirty-one of the plates by Bartoli are copies in reverse of plates from François Perrier's Icones et segmenta (Rome, 1645). Perrier's monogram appears on plates 53 & 54. See Indice.First ed. appeared probably in 1666 and comprised 81 plates. Plates 60 & 61 of the present ed., devoted to the Roman fresco known as the Aldobrandini Wedding, were etched by Bartoli in 1677 and added to the work.
