A reprint of two rare 19th-century drapery manuals from the Winterthus Library (the first by Arrowsmi…th, the second by King). This copy has an "opened-a-few-times" look & feel, but with no crushes to the boards' corners. An introduction by Gail Caskey Winkler explains their use and the context of their publication: by subscription, in England, for the increasing numbers of households that could afford fabrics and be concerned with fashion (such decorating was men's province at that time). Both give detailed descriptions of workroom techniques and include illustrations. Stored in sealed plastic protection and mailed (bubble-wrapped) in a sturdy Jiffy Rigi Bag envelope.
