Original dark green cloth with gilt spine lettering. Good plus. Light wear to spine ends, light speckling to cloth, a few small spots to front cover. The hinges are intact and the volume is sturdy. One corner creased; a few minor traces of foxing and soiling but leaves are generally clean. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. Preceded by the London edition of the same year, which was the first edition in English. Collects eight lectures by the eminent German scientist, Hermann von Helmholtz (1821-1894).
