Four large quartos bound in dark blue stamped and polished cloth-backed boards; 1,592p, full-color frontispieces tipped in; replete with illustrations and photos in b&w and sepia; maps, index. A truly impressive, massively illustrated work organized according to the contents of the Old and New Testaments, with the contributions of over sixty Biblical scholars (chiefly Christian). The many pre-WorldWar II photographs and portraits of the diverse peoples and scenes of the Holy Lands, are arguably the most remarkable aspect of this set. These photographs give this set both anthropological and photographical significance that may be appreciated by all, and also documents a bygone era. Set also includes reproductions of many "famous masterpieces of religious art" / Palestine, Levant, Israel, Jordan Lebanon; Biblical Holy Lands, Bedouin, Beduin ??** Extra postage may be required. Please inquire. Set is quite heavy; weighs 16 lbs with proper packing. Mild damp-spotting to top edges (see photos), with damp-rippling affecting only very slightly and intermittently the top page edges and margins (very minor); spine fold-crinkled as per usual with this type of binding and age; else overall a very clean, and tight set. Very good to about very good(+) thus.
