The Seri Indians of Mexico, until recently, were isolated by a vast desert from the rest of Sonora. Highly resistant to change, these remarkable people learned to survive and adapt to a hot, dry climate and have retained much of their culture in the face of immense pressures to accept the modern ways of Western society. The author met the Seris and was influenced by them. Through his eyes and conversations we catch glimpses of unique personalities, customs and events in a land exotic and alien to many outsiders, but strongly powerful to those who come to know it. Illustrated with end page maps, black/white photographs and drawings.
