Arlen's novel was considered so daring in the US t…hat producers attempted to distance the film from the source text as much as possible in order to placate the Hays Commission, eliminating all references to drug use, sexually transmitted diseases, and homosexuality, which were key points within the original narrative. 10 x 8 inches.
