Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Fair. No Jacket. 1st ed. 52pp. Illus tables, diagrams, graphs etc.Ex lib. and as such this can only be classed as a reading/working copy. Having said that the bulk of the library mutilation occurs on the front paste & ffep & apart from the occasional mainly unobtrusive stamp the text has been generally unaffected. The boards have a lib. id on the front & an embossed stamp on the rear but apart from a little damage to the head of the spine, sl. fading to the spine & a little rubbing & staining they are not too bad. The authors are economists/statisticians and the figures produced in the book provide a fascinating insight into the state of coastwise shipping in the immediate postwar years.

COLONIAL SPAIN IN THE MISSOURI RIVER VALLEY As the leading expert in colonial Spain's movements on the Missouri River, A. P. Nasatir used his extensive personal library of primary documents to fill the publishing gap of the pre-Louisiana Purchase Missouri River Valley, establishing that the Spanish had a long history of searching for a route to the Pacific that predated Lewis and Clark. Before Lewis and Clark focuses on Native American trade with colonial forces and features his own translations, as well as five fold-out maps, two of which are published here for the first time. Gently pressed spine heads, uneven toning to v. 1 text block edges, still near fine, in very good plus dust jackets with lightly sunned spines, light wear and chipping to top edges, several short closed tears to bottom edge v. 1, in mylar covers. Publisher's full green cloth, stamped in gilt, in dust jackets.

This work was first published in 1781 after Condillac's death in 1780.

Ajouter au panierWith twenty-three full-color tipped-in illustrations by Edward J. Detmold. Color frontispiece mis-bound at p. 109. (illustrateur). Quarto. xvi, 152pp. 9.25" x 6.5" GOLDEN AGE AESOP One of the most famed Victorian illustrators of the animal kingdom pairs here with one of the great books of fables. Issued in the UK and US by Hodder & Stoughton in 1909, this sumptuous quarto brings the ancient moral tales of Aesop vividly to life through Detmold's twenty-three full-color plates. Bridging the gap between the Victorian and Edwardian eras, Detmold became one of the most gifted animal illustrators of the early twentieth-century, combining scientific observation with decorative elegance. Produced during the Golden Age of illustrated gift books, this volume exemplifies the artistry and craftsmanship of the period and remains one of the most beautiful modern interpretations of these classic fables. A fine first American Trade Edition, preserved in extremely scarce illustrated publisher's box. Very fine in very good, toned and edge worn publisher's illustrated box, with some minor reinforcements, partial original glassine jacket laid in. Illustrations and text remain bright and clean.
