Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book reports on the investigations of the etiology of hog cholera, a disease that has plagued farmers and swineherds for centuries. Investigating cholera outbreaks in the early 1900s, the author discovered the disease was not caused by the hog cholera bacillus but a previously unknown filterable virus. This finding provided important new knowledge and set the stage for further research on this devastating disease that continues to impact the swine industry to this day. The author's groundbreaking discovery also laid the foundation for modern research into diseases caused by filterable viruses, including those that affect humans. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
