Mostly it was excerpts from works - both magazine and books - published elsewhere in the United States and Europe; in fact it may be considered as a nineteenth century precursor to "Reader's Digest", only with a higher literary pretension. The spine has wear and splitting to its extremities(evidence of mending at that spot), else remains solid. The interior, while displaying some general surface creasing, and spotting (what seems at one point to be lamp-black spot) else it is clean and free of marking. No writing.
