The second letter is incomplete undated and with no recipient (obviously his parents) consisting of about 670 words plus a few handwritten postscripts in which he sings the praises of Mrs Lockwood, the Rocky Mountain Champion Woman athlete, an outstanding tennis player who was on the U.S.A.A.U. Women's basketball team that toured South America. He mentions Ronnie Ferrari (who is featured in the publication) and discusses coming home for a visit, 'I am very homesick.' He goes on to say he has taken up mountaineering and rock climbing and lists his expenses. He ends with 'Who is this "Mother" that's sending me letters? I only know "Ma" and "Mom."' Highland High School, Albuquerque was built in 1949 expanding with an east and a west wing in the 1950s. The school's mascot was Herbie the Hornet, named after a naval ship, the USS Hornet.
