Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book concerns itself with the scientific study of transplanting vertebrate gonads (ovaries and testes) from one animal to another. The text begins with a detailed review of the scholarly literature on the subject, establishing the historical context of this area of study. Additionally, the author provides their own original research on the topic, adding to the current body of knowledge on the subject. Using guinea pigs and rabbits as test subjects, the author investigates whether and to what extent transplanted gonads function normally and whether they could be influenced by the foster mother's body. This research is described in detail, with discussion of both positive and negative results. The book concludes with the author's suggestion that the environment does not directly influence the characteristics of its inhabitants, and that the character of a body does not, in turn, influence the character of its contained germ-plasm. This book will be of interest to academics and professionals in the fields of genetics and evolutionary biology. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
