The head and heel of spine are heavily rubbed with some loss to head. The front joint is also rubbed. All edges gilt. The pages throughout are clean. Has a bookplate for St Paul's School (assuming Portsmouth), dated 1923. This is a very nice and clean copy of this classic, with some rubbing as described. Book.

In very good condition. A nice binding. Widely considered the greatest English poet of the Middle Ages, Geoffrey Chaucer is best known for The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer also achieved fame in his lifetime as a philosopher and astronomer, composing the scientific A Treatise on the Astrolabe for his 10-year-old son Lewis. Among Chaucer's many other works are The Book of the Duchess, The House of Fame, The Legend of Good Women, and Troilus and Criseyde.
