First edition of this exceedingly scarce emblem book written and edited by Presbyterian and Methodist ministers -- an impressive example of Victorian American book production, w/ charming and occasionally macabre & grotesque illustrations of morality, virtue, vice, and more. Worldcat lists only Microfilm copies.
