Published in Chester in 1815, this is the first Edition of this early history of the city, bound in an old full leather binding, just over 8 inches tall, 334 pages plus index, illustrated with five etchings by the author, four are full page, the fifth is a smaller illustration on the title page. There is a crack running the length of the joint to the upper board along spine edges, board loosened but still attached by the binding cords. Internally a few foxing spots, some light browning else contents in nice general condition.

Ex Libris of previous owner (see provenance comments below). A lovely copy in a nice sturdy binding. See images. Provenance: From the Library of Franz Pollack-Parnau with his Ex Libris. This book belonged to Franz Pollack-Parnau (1903-2003), a scion of a Moravian family that had amassed a fortune in the textile industry. His library in the family palace at Vienna's Schwarzenbergplatz was legendary.
