Fine unread copy in clear acetate dust-wrapper. This is Cuthbert Fitzherbert's collection of reminiscences of deer stalking in the Scottish Highlands, in the period 1928 to 1948. Included are three paintings by V. Balfour-Browne, and one by Drew Bain which is a copy of an original by V. Balfour-Browne. The first three paintings did not appear in the first edition, and the format of this second edition differs from that of the first in order to accomodate the plates. Chapters include: First impressions; Deer-stalking in the Forest of Achnacarry; Reflections on deer-stalking; Hosts and guests; The season in the deer forest; Deer-stalking, ancient and modern; Amateurs and professionals; October in the deer forest; Wade's lieutenant; The prince and the pedlar; A thief in the night; The Sturgeon; The Big Stag of Coire Mor; A memory of "B.B." (by which the author means V.R. Balfour-Browne, not the more well-known author and illustrator, D.J. Watkins-Pitchford who wrote under the nom de plume of "BB".) .
