This volume documents the artistic career of Rotraut Uecker—spanning both painting and sculpture—and, alongside the *Yves Klein* catalogue, accompanies the major exhibition dedicated by the Lugano Art Museum to these two artists. The project aims to highlight the work of Klein, a key figure in post-war art, and his creative partnership with Rotraut—an artist who shared his artistic vision and sensibility, and who was also his wife. Rotraut's work, initially linked to Klein's artistic explorations, evolved during the 1960s toward a sculptural style that uses forms of pure synthesis to depict states of being that are as simple as they are universal—such as *joie de vivre*, primal innocence, play, dance, and beauty. These works take the form of monochrome-painted metal volumes, often designed for outdoor settings.
