Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Swiss and German immigrants who came to Brazil as agricultural colonists in the 19th century. At the time, there was an enormous shortage of labor in Brazil's coffee plantations and these European immigrants were seen as a possible solution. On the one hand, the book sheds light on the hardships faced by these colonists, who often found themselves at the mercy of unscrupulous plantation owners. On the other hand, the book also explores the ways in which these immigrants were able to adapt to their new environment and, in some cases, even thrive. Ultimately, the book offers a nuanced understanding of a complex historical phenomenon, and its insights will be of great value to anyone interested in the history of immigration, labor, and race relations in Brazil. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
