Este libro se propone analizar la proliferación actual de narrativas sobre el fin del mundo, entendiéndolas como intentos de invención de una mitología adecuada al presente que nos oriente ante el colapso de la distinción entre naturaleza y cultura. Déborah Danowski y Eduardo Viveiros de Castro encuentran evidencia de estos esfuerzos míticos tanto en la divulgación científica y en los pronunciamientos de diversas organizaciones mundiales, como en la obra de Bruno Latour, Isabelle Stengers, Quentin Meillassoux o los aceleracionistas, y en bloskbusters como "Mad Max", "La carretera" o "Melancolía".
