Blair in 2009. Prior to his ascension as DNI, he was Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, and continued serving in that capacity until 2011. He has worked in senior executive positions at Unisys, AT&T, and most recently as a senior fellow at RAND, a leading research organization that explores topics such as national security, terrorism, economic development, and science and technology. He was a distinguished research professor at the National Defense University's Center for Technology and National Security Policy. From 2003 to 2004, Gompert was the senior adviser for national security and defense to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq . Examines how the United States should improve its counterinsurgency (COIN) capabilities through, for example, much greater focus on understanding jihadist strategy, using civil measures to strengthen the local government, and enabling local forces to conduct COIN operations. Half-Leather. Etat : Good. Undated, The British Library date this book to 1876, two books bound in one leather bound volume. The First book is a book of American Jokes; this runs to 164 pages illustrated with line drawings. It is known that Dod Grile (the pseudonym of Ambrose Bierce) had several jokes and pieces of humor publish…ed in Awful Crammers: A New American Joke Book, The second book also by the same author also has American interest, this runs to 230 pages. The American Joke Book is particularly scare. The book is bound in an old half leather binding with marbled paper covered boards, and measures around 6.5 inches tall approx. CONDITION The book has general edge wear rubbing, some surface wear to the marbled paper else the binding is in good solid condition. internally there are several crossed out old ownership names to the front endpapers, and one to the title page. There is heavy foxing and browning to a few pages, but most of the pages are free of foxing, there is corner creasing to a few pages, one page stands slightly proud of the text block but it is firmly attached.

Epistle Dedicatory, dated 1604, signed John Dod, Richard Cleaver. Richard Cleaver (1561-1614) was Associate of John Dod at Hanwell. Referenced by STC (2nd ed.) 6971.7. First published in 1603. Old vellum cover (original?) solid and slightly warped. Old tie holes on outer margin. Contents clean and crisp with title-page complete but needing rebacking (?). A very good copy for this old, popular comment. Other than the Bible and the Psalm-book, it was the most commonly-owned book in early Plymouth Colony and in his well-known description of "the poorest or smallest library that is tolerable", Richard Baxter places "Mr Dod. on the Commandments" in his list of must-have practical English writers. "This book has been long held in high esteem" - CH Spurgeon.
