Boris Artzybasheff (1899-1965) fled Soviet communism at the age of twenty to settle in New York. Author of illustrations for some fifty books and for advertisements for famous companies (Pan Am, Shell, Parker pens), he is also renowned for his contributions to various magazines; notably, he created more than two hundred covers for Time Magazine.
