Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents the official results for an arc of precise triangulation extending from the California-Washington arc to a connection with the Utah-Washington arc. Triangulation is a method of surveying that determines the latitude, longitude, and elevation of points by measuring angles and distances. Surveying is essential for creating accurate maps, and the results of this project were pivotal in creating new and updating existing ones for the western United States. Precise triangulation is extremely accurate, often down to a few centimeters over very long distances. The California-Oregon arc is one of many such projects that, when combined together, help to establish a national network of control points that provide the foundation for accurate mapping and surveying in the United States. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
