This staple-bound softback book is in fair condition. 5 X 7 inches. covers dingy. spine torn at bottom, but still complete and solid. inside is in Very Good condition. Probably published in the 1920's. interesting recounting of what it was to be handicapped in the 1910's and 20's, while being poor. The a…uthor developed severe rheumatism at 14, which gradually got worse, to the point he could not walk or sit up without assistance. how he delt with his condition, the very small allowance given by the government, and how he had to sell illegal whisky to make enough money to survive. also a paragraph at the end by his wife defending her position of marrying an invalid man because of love. this 20 page booklet has a picture of Ebenezer Morris, in prison striped outfit and a hat, strapped to a wheelchair to keep him upright. caption below it refer to him being almost being burned to death when the Georgia State Pennitentiary went up in flames -- because he was helpless. the back cover has a picture of him, Very similar, except Not in Prison garb. It has the caption below it: "this picture was made before my legs were taken off.".
