In dieser Arbeit sollen vor allem die wichtigsten Ereignisse besprochen werden, die für die Anfänge Aachens als Krönungsstätte von besonderer Bedeutung waren. Mit Karl dem Großen und Otto I. gelingt der Einstieg in die Thematik sowie eine erste Orientierung in den geschichtlichen Kontext. Dabei soll auch der Frage nachgegangen werden, warum die Könige beinahe 600 Jahre lang an der Aachener Krönungstradition festhielten, obwohl die Stadt eher eine geografische Randposition innehatte und weder über eine verkehrsgünstige Lage verfügte, noch ein Handels- oder Verwaltungszentrum war. Tatsächlich wuchs das Ansehen Aachens aber stetig, verantwortlich dafür waren unter anderem die Herrscherpersönlichkeiten Otto III. und Friedrich I., die deshalb in diesem Kontext nicht unerwähnt bleiben dürfen. Im Zusammenhang der Königskrönung wird in den mittelalterlichen Quellen Aachen immer wieder als der 'rechte Ort' bezeichnet. Denn wer als rechtmäßiger Herrscher gelten wollte, kam an Aachen nicht mehr vorbei. Welch wichtigen Legitimationsfaktor Aachen deshalb für die Herrschererhebung ausübte, wird in dieser Arbeit ebenfalls von Bedeutung sein. Im weiteren Verlauf wird auf den Ablauf und die Bestandteile der Aachener Königskrönung eingegangen. Weltkrieg, Note: 1,3, Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (Historisches Institut), Veranstaltung: Proseminar Neuzeit - 'Politik und Gesellschaft in der Weimarer Republik', Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das besondere Interesse dieser Arbeit gilt der Analyse des Plakats 'Wir Arbeiter sind erwacht' des Grafikers Felix Albrecht. Es ist im Juli 1932 von der NSDAP - bzw. Heinz Franke - herausgegeben und für die Reichstagswahlen genutzt worden. Ziel ist herauszuarbeiten, welche Botschaft und intendierte Wirkung sich hinter diesem politischen Plakat verbergen. Um die Botschaft des Plakats richtig verstehen und deuten zu können, muss man sich zunächst einen Überblick über den zeitlichen Kontext verschaffen, in dem das Plakat entstand. Es wird daher untersucht, welche politische, wirtschaftliche Situation 1932 unmittelbar vor den Reichstagswahlen in der Weimarer Republik herrschte. Anschließend wird das nationalsozialistische Plakat 'Wir Arbeiter sind erwacht' beschrieben und einzelne Aspekte analysiert. Schließlich wird das Wahlplakat interpretiert. Nach der Untersuchung dieser Darstellung, soll versucht werden, aus ihr die tatsächliche und intendierte Wirkung des Plakats zu erschließen. Lassen sich daraus letztendlich Rückschlüsse für die nationalsozialistische Wahlpropaganda ziehen. …
