Etat : Near Fine. 1858 Jack and the Giants Beanstalk Children's Classic Doyle Dalziel Engravings This rare 1858 printing of "The Story of Jack and the Giants" is a 19th century children's book, written and illustrated by Richard Doyle, with engravings by George and Edward Dalziel. The book tells of the exploits of Jack the Giant Slayer, a commoner who through his wit and bravery becomes a knight of King Arthur's Round Table, with Doyle's charming illustrations bringing the picaresque story to life. The Dalziel brothers transformed 35 of Doyle's original drawings into woodcut engravings, capturing the detail and texture of Doyle's original illustrations. This book is a delightful read for children and adults alike, and the engravings by the brothers Dalziel and the illustrations by Richard Doyle make it a valuable collector's item for fans of Victorian-era children's literature and illustration.
