This book is an historical work of art - having involved the artist in hours of painstaking research from old plans and specifications and days of travel to various parts of the country to view steam locomotive relics and restored examples at museums The book takes the reader back in time and shows a chosen selection of steam locomotives which over the years earned a place in the history of our railways - some for noble service, others because they were unique or ahead of their time in design and performance - they will always be remembered as the Classics of their era.
