Nel 1877 si iscrive ai corsi di pittura presso la Scuola d'Arte di Berlino e nel 1884 all'Accademia della stessa città, dove ha come maestri Paul… Thumann, Otto Knille e Paul Meyerheim che lo introduce all'arte dell'incisione e dell'acquaforte. Nel 1893 diviene professore di Incisione presso l'Accademia di Dresda. Dopo alcuni mesi abbandona l'insegnamento per recarsi a Firenze dove incontra Max Klinger e dove tenta, nel 1895, di istituire una casa atelier per artisti tedeschi. Dopo il fallimento del progetto, che Klinger riuscirà a realizzare anni dopo, ritorna in Germania, a Berlino. Dopo alcuni lavori di scultura, tra cui il celebre Bogenschtze (L'Arciere, 1895) che viene collocato nel parco Schloss Sanssouci di Postdam, si stabilisce a Firenze. Allo scoppio della Grande Guerra torna in Germania e dal 1918 al 1926 è docente di Incisione presso l'Accademia di Berlino. Nel 1927 si trasferisce definitivamente a Firenze. Tra le sue opere grafiche più importanti sono il ciclo grafico Darwinistische disputation (Disputazione darwinistica), e le acqueforti Ansicht von Montreux (Veduta di Montreux) e Bildnis von Helmholz (Ritratto di Helmholtz).

Mit breitem Rand, unbescnitten in excellentem Zustand, siehe Fotos. ---- Ernst Moritz Geyger (18611941) war ein ren…ommierter deutscher Bildhauer, Medailleur, Maler und Grafiker. Er studierte an der Berliner Kunstakademie und machte sich zunächst durch meisterhafte Radierungen und detailreiche, vom Symbolismus geprägte Gebrauchsgrafiken wie aufwendige Exlibris und Buchvignetten einen festen Namen. Seine allergrößte Bekanntheit erlangte er jedoch als Bildhauer. Sein berühmtestes plastisches Werk ist die monumentale Bronzeplastik des Bogenschützen (die heute unter anderem im Park Sanssouci in Potsdam zu bewundern ist). Geyger wurde für seine Verdienste zum Professor ernannt und unterhielt neben seiner Berliner Heimat viele Jahre lang ein eigenes Atelier in Florenz.---- ----- Das Mappenwerk der Insel (18991901) gilt als epochaler Meilenstein der deutschen Buchkunstbewegung und des Jugendstils. Es befreite die Druckgrafik von ihrer reinen Illustrationsfunktion und erhob sie zum autonomen Kunstwerk. Die Insel agierte dabei als Verlag und publizistische Instanz; Meisterbetriebe druckten die Editionen auf das eigens für den Verlag geschöpfte, hochwertige Insel-Bütten.
