Hardcover. Etat : Fair. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A first edition, 1939, bound in original teal-green cloth boards with the title, author, and publisher blocked in black along the spine. The book lacks its original dust jacket. Boards show general shelf wear with some scattered foxing/staining spots to the front and rear panels. The spine head and tail show cloth fraying and light bumping. Corners are bumped and starting to show through at the tips. Internally, the text block is clean and tight with age-toned (tanned) paper typical of the period, running to 376 pages across four books, ending with the publisher's "Three People and This Book" notice. The front free endpaper carries an old pencil bookseller's reference and price code, and the rear endpaper bears a period ink ownership inscription/name, along with some childish ink doodles. Binding remains firm and square. Overall: a sound, well-preserved first edition of this scarce Robert Eton title, showing honest wear consistent with age.…
