Franz Ignaz Pruner (1808-1882) was a German physician and anthropologist who was appointed by Mehmed Ali to the chair of anatomy and physiology at the Cairo medical school. In 1839 he became physician to the Egyptian royal family and in 1865 became president of the Societe d'anthropologie in Paris. Side-stiched in the publisher's light blue wrappers (now chipped) with a dedication to M. Duhousset on the upper wrapper. A very nice signed copy of the first edition in the publisher's wrappers.
