Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book, focusing on collective objects (those with multiple, varying examples), introduces and examines the central value - a novel statistical concept whereby the arithmetic mean is replaced with the value separating the highest number of positive and negative deviations from itself. The author demonstrates how the central value outperforms other statistical measures in determining the mean value of collective objects, exploring its relationship and superiority to the arithmetic mean value within the field of physical and astronomical observation. Expanding on this foundational concept, the book further develops a theory and methodology for determining the central value and its relationship to the arithmetic mean value, across a variety of datasets and case studies. The book concludes with a discussion of potential applications of the central value and related concepts in various fields of research and analysis. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Hardcover. Etat : Good. 1st Edition. 1 leaf, 45 pp. Later cloth-backed boards, with original front wrapper trimmed and mounted on front board. Upper corners of boards worn. Paper browned. First Edition. In the first article, Fechner "answers challenges by critics to his hypothesis that the infant in the arms of Holbein s Meyer Madonna amalgamates the Christ Child and the donor s sick child. Cites a tradition in Swabian and Bavarian chapels . . . in which statues of the Madonna hold images of the deceased children of families wishing to commend their souls to heaven. Argues that drawing no. 65 in the Basel Kunstmuseum, depicting the virgin and a kneeling soldier, is a preliminary design for the painting. Sees Holbein's own child as the model for the child in the drawing" (Michael, Hans Holbein the Younger, no. 828, p. 325). Copy of psychologist Edwin G. Boring (with his signature on the front flyleaf). OCLC locates copies in these US libraries: Harvard, Univ. Southern California, Stanford, Wisconsin (OCLC misspells "Holbein'schen" as "Holbeiin'schen").…
