Author's page-long ink inscription "For Miss Martha Young with greetings, good wishes, and applause from Bert Finck June, 1923 Louisville, Ky" on front free endpaper all in an oddly cumbersome cursive for a 53 year old (so perhaps suffering from some ailment). Binding is firm. Features a collection of essays collectively gathered as "Shadows on the Wall" (pages 1-19) followed by five plays: "The Poet," "The House of Tragedy," "The Unwelcome Visitor," "Remorse," and "Adversity." A collection of Edward Bertrand Finck's personal papers (primarily correspondence) are held by the Special Collections Department of The Filson Historical Society in Louisville, Kentucky.
