Single issue of this journal, founded in 1958, becoming a key publication in the underground press, often using satire and subversive humor to critique American mainstream politics and culture. Founded by Paul Krassner, an American author, and member of the Me…rry Pranksters (as well as a founding member of the Yippies) [see Wikipedia]. This number mostly devoted to two opinions/views of the Democratic Convention in Miami, 1972. One, by noted underground newspaper publisher Thomas Forcade, discusses the demise of the Movement through infighting, subversion by Nixon, and the selling out of leaders such as Jerry Rubin and Abbie Hoffman. VERY GOOD condition. General toning and minor wrinkling.

Some 52years ago, a much-hyped "youth" film was produced with intentions to capitalize on the success of "Woodstock", Michael Waldleigh's immensely popular (and Osca…r-winning) documentary of the epoch-making rock festival. In the summer of 1970, Warner Brothers spent nearly a million dollars putting together the Medicine Ball Caravan, as 150 recruited hippies, accompanied by a French film crew, undertook a cross-country tour from San Francisco to D.C., promulgating the Aquarian lifestyle and staging a series of free concerts along the way. This is highly unauthorized version of, corporate money, acid, commercialism, and rock music met in the heartland. Scarce item. The movies sponsors tried to get it suppressed. Leibovitz, Annie (photographs) (illustrateur).
