Adler studied at Woods Hole, Massachusetts, interning at the University of Pennsylvania hospital, then became an instructor of physiology at the University. It was there that he began his association with George de Schweinitz. / "In 1933, Dr. Adler became attending surgeon at The Wills Eye Hospital, a position he held until 1937. He served as editor-in-chief of the American Medical Association's Archives of Ophthalmology.
