Cloth. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. First edition. A first-edition autobiography of Fred Cherrill, New Scotland Yard's significant former Chief Superintendent of the Fingerprint Bureau, smartly encased in the scarce original dust wrapper. First edition. In the publisher's original cloth binding, accompanied by the increasingly scarce unclipped dust wrapper. Featuring a frontispiece, fourteen further pages of plates and further line drawings in the text. Collated, complete. The autobiography of Fred Cherrill, the highly regarded former detective superintendent at New Scotland Yard. Cherrill worked on a number of memorable cases throughout his illustrious career and is best remembered for shaping the fingerprint system, earning him the nickname "The Fingerprint Man". Not only does this work celebrate Cherrill's life and career but it also provides an insightful glimpse into important advancements in forensic science. In the publisher's original cloth binding, accompanied by the increasingly scarce unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart with slight bumping and rubbing, resulting in minor loss of cloth, mainly at the spine head and tail, stronger fading to the top and bottom edge, and a couple of marks to the boards. Dust wrapper also a nice copy, with subtly heavier shelf wear, culminating in several small tears to the edges, most notably to the spine edge and rear cover. With a few further spots and marks. Internally, firmly bound. A little age toned, more so to the endpapers, otherwise a very bright and clean edition with the odd spot only. Very Good. Not Stated (illustrateur). book.
