OCCUPATION FORCES . * This is a nice collection of 8 Yokohama hand-colored photos. This collection also contains the rare original English-printed & color decorated envelope, listing the 8 views. The envelope was designed to be a mailer of the photos to family and friends back home in the U.S.A. Photos of the U.S. occupation of Japan are scarce, and even rarer when found in the original, intact envelope with the titles and cover art in such nice condition. . *** THE PHOTO VIEWS ARE: . 1. Headquarters 3rd Military Railway service. . *** TYPICAL SOUVENIR BY AN AMERICAN G.I. IN THE 8TH ARMY OCCUPATION FORCE: . This is a typical item bought by a G.I. on a walk on Isezaki the main street of Yokohama as a souvenir of his visit. . Each photo shows an important building or street, commonly used by the American occupation forces in Yokohama. Lots of English signs on the buildings. By and large the vehicles are U.S. Army jeeps, trucks with a scant few civilian cars, most parked at the army P.X. Some street scenes shows lots of American army soldiers in uniform walking the streets. The last photo is an excellent image of the U.S. Army Headquarters based in the old Nippon Yusen Kaisha building, flying the American flat, adjacent to the harbor. . *** Color photos are posted to our website. . *** RARELY FOUND COMPLETE: This example is complete with the original envelope, which is typically missing or damaged. . *** CONDITION: The envelope is in excellent condition, with a trifle bit of mild foxing.
