This was his first book after winning the Taiyo photography award in 1981. From Tokyo to Berlin, London, Liverpool and New York the book includes early hip hop, skinheads, second wave mods, tearaways, punks, bikers, berlin squatters, smack heads and other street types. An excellent overview of late 70s/early 80s youth tribes shot in a raw photodocumentary style. …

Revision and reworking of previous titles in a beautiful hardcover version. The photographs, which were taken in the 1980s, may be even more interesting now, in light of the passage of time. Descriptions mostly in Japanese, but with some English. Each work is interesting in its own right. The work Father, for example, includes a portrait of (at the time) young comedian Shinsuke Shimada, who ultimately became a top television personality in Japan, but who suddenly retired from show business in August 2011 due to a scandal.
