An exhaustive survey of poster design, starting with Assyrian wall panels and archaeological examples, covering the principles of proportion, perspective, scale, ?symmetry, visual rhythms, the use of colour, typefaces, all in relation to modern (inter-war) graphic design and advertisement art, with many examples tinged with Art Nouveau and Art Deco influence.
