Les bibliographes indiquent le millésime 1567 : il s'agit bien ici d'un exemplaire de la même édition, pourvu d'un nouveau titre à la date de 1568.Le grammairien latin Censorinus vivait au IIIe siècle de notre ère. De die natali, composé vers 238, traite de la naissance et de la vie de l'homme, des cycles temporels (années, mois, jours, années climatériques, etc.), des rites religieux, du zodiaque, des théories pythagoriciennes sur la musique et les planètes, de la durée de la vie, des calendriers, des jeux séculaires, etc. C'est un précieux témoignage sur les usages, les croyances et les rites dans l'Antiquité tardive.Cette édition a été établie et commentée par l'érudit Élie Vinet (1509-1587) qui, principal du Collège de Guyenne, eut comme élève Michel de Montaigne, et dont Philippe Desan affirme qu'il "incarne parfaitement l'humanisme tardif de la Renaissance". Vinet, qui avait fait ses études à Poitiers, publia plusieurs ouvrages dans cette ville, tous sortis des presses de la famille de Marnef. Pâles rousseurs sur les premiers feuillets, trace de mouillure, accroc réparé dans le blanc du titre.
