First Edition number 628 / SIGNED boldly on half-title Harold Plotkin. Ernst Halbertstadt (1910-1987…) was brought to the US from Germany at age 1 and came to know the streets of Boston as a boy. He became known for his documentary photographs and murals. Along with artist Edna Hibel, and businessman Harold Plotkin, owner of Plotkin Bros. on Boylston Street, he began the Outdoor Boston Arts Festival in the 1950s. CONTENTS: Poems divided into 5 sections: Marblehead, Haiku, Perchance to Dream, Cold Gray Stones, and Maine. Titles include: Foliage North of Alton, Winter in Mattapan, Colby Roommate, Boon Island, Shore Road to Ogunquit, A Maine Youth. JACKET TEXT: "The poems are further enhanced by the prize-winning photographs by the well-known artist, Ernst Halberstadt. Although the pictures were not taken specifically to illustrate the book, both poems and photographs have a natural affinity one for the other.
