The book is quite worn, commensurate with its age, but the dust jacket is still firm. By the way, the inside of the dust jacket is completely filled - top to bottom - with commentaries on all of the Culinary Arts Press published books, up to 1936. The original price of 15 cents is imprinted on the front cover. There is no writing in the book, and there is no odor. There are charming line drawings on virtually every page. 48 pages. Handmade and hand painted Wooden cover boards with a frontier woman and covered wagons, mild soiling on the edges, and drilled with the body as single leaflets with four holes along the spine, bound by four heavy duty loops of yellow wire. The interior pages are clean, have minor sunning, soiling, and water damage on some of the edges, but they're still in great condition. This book is in very good condition.…

Hand made and hand painted Wooden cover boards with green cloth hinges, attached to a fixed spine which extends about a half inch in from the edge and attaches to the separate cover board, so that it flips open quite nicely. The wooden cover features a painting of a boy in a sombrero smoking a cigarette and standing next to a cactus in a desert landscape. The painting appears to be painted directly on to the light yellow painted boards. The wood grain shows through the painted back round and figure. The wooden cover seems to be one of a kind. The handmade wooden cover was retrofitted to a periodical from Culinary Arts, Volume 1, Number 5, published in 1936 in Reading, Pennsylvania. "The Western Cookbook; 250 Tempting Recipes; Many Characteristic Northwestern, Southwestern and Mexican Recipes" has it's own green card cover and saddle stapled binding.
