Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. 22.5 x 14.5 cm. Octavo. xv 136pp. Five black and white plates which include a frontispiece portrait of the author, 3 B&W landscape paintings and a drawing of fish. Brown-tan cloth with gilt lettering. Corners are lightly bumped. Some foxing to page edges. Published posthumously, an unfinished manuscript of reminiscences on fishing. Also reprints some articles from "The Field" and "The Fishing Gazette". In 1905 "English textile magnate Holden Illingworth filed the first patent on the fixed-spool, or spinning, reel. In this kind of reel, the spool permanently faces toward the tip of the rod, and the line peels off during the cast. The increased casting distance afforded by the spinning reeland facilitated by new lines with smaller diametersrevolutionized freshwater fishing." (Britannica article on Fishing). Rare work, I could not locate it on Worldcat, though a sequel, "More Reminiscences" from 1936 is noted.
